How to Use Music From Napster on a Player

    Uploading to Napster-Compatible Devices

    • 1). Register and become a Napster subscriber. If you are not a subscriber, you only may listen to a song three times before having to pay for it. If you register, you do not have a limit as to how many times you listen to a song, plus you are able to save music to your computer. With a subscription, you have access to the "Napster to Go" service, which allows you to download songs to Napster-compatible devices, such as the Samsung SYNC and black jack, Sony A818 Walkman and the MOTOROKR Z6m.

    • 2). Download your Napster music to a folder on your desktop. Keep all your Napster music in one folder, as music programs may lose files if they are not in the same location. This causes songs in an incorrect folder not to play in the media player until moved to the proper location.

    • 3). Highlight all the Napster songs that you downloaded and right click on the highlighted area, so a pop-up menu appears. Locate "Open With" and find the media player that your portable music device is compatible with, so that all of your songs move to the player.

Plug in your portable music device using its USB drive and choose the songs that you want to download to the player. Follow the device's on-screen instructions in order to upload your music, a process which can take a few seconds to a few minutes. During the process, do not unplug the device until prompted to do so, as you may corrupt your music files, rendering them unplayable.

    • 5). Disconnect your player from your computer once the upload is complete. Check all of the songs to make sure that they work and to see if the full playlist moved to your player.

    Uploading to Non-Compatible Devices

    • 1). Visit DaniuSoft's (see the Resources section) website and download the free version of the DaniuSoft Music Converter program, if offered this option. The free version is a thirty-day trial only. Another option is DRM Removal, which also may offer a thirty-day trial.

    • 2). Open the conversion program once the download is complete. Take the time to read the help section so that you will know how to use the program.

    • 3). Add the Napster music that you want to convert to the program and follow the on-screen instructions to begin the process. This may take several seconds to a few minutes to complete. The converted audio should go to the same location, so that the media player that you use for iTunes, Zune or any other device that cannot read Napster files will not lose your music.

    • 4). Open the folder where the converted music is located and highlight all the files when the conversion process is complete. Right-click on the highlighted area and locate the "Open With" option. Choose the media player where you want the songs to go.

    • 5). Allow the songs to upload onto the media player. This process may take several minutes because the program has to check for corrupted files and to see if it can read each file so that it will play.

    • 6). Plug your music device into your computer and allow the songs to upload onto it. Once complete, check to see if the playlist completely uploaded onto the device.
