- Begin by placing cool water over the stain to try to remove as much as possible of the juice. Then create a mixture of white vinegar, liquid laundry detergent and water to place on the stain. Mix one Tbsp. white vinegar with one-half tsp. laundry detergent and one quart of warm water. Allow the fabric to soak for up to 15 minutes, completely saturated in the mixture, to help loosen the pigments from the fabric, then rinse with cool water. You can also wash the fabric using non-chlorine bleach as long as this is acceptable for the type of fabric that was stained.
- Use a mixture of white vinegar and rubbing alcohol to remove grape juice from upholstery such as couches and chairs. Mix one Tbsp. of white vinegar with two-thirds of a cup of rubbing alcohol. Test this mixture in a hidden area of the upholstery to make sure that it does not harm the material. If no harm occurs, place the mixture on the stain with a clean cloth and blot until the stain is removed. Use as little of the mixture as possible to remove the stain, simply dabbing it on. Once completed, blot with a clean cloth soaked in water.
- Use a mixture of liquid dishwashing detergent and water for grape juice stains on a carpet. Place one Tbsp. of detergent in two cups warm water and stir the mixture. Use a clean cloth to blot the mixture onto the stain until it is removed. Rinse with cool water and another clean cloth. If this does not remove the stain, try using the mixture of white vinegar and rubbing alcohol that works for upholstery.
- There are many chemical stain removers on the market that can help remove grape juice stains. They are made for specific applications such as laundry, carpet and upholstery. Make sure to apply a small amount of any chemical stain remover in a hidden area of the material to test that it will not change the color. Be careful not to scrub stains, instead gently blot them as much as possible. This helps prevent further damage to the item.
