How to Change Windows Vista to a New File System

    • 1). Insert the USB thumb drive into your computer. Go through your hard drive and backup any important file or documents, as they will be lost during the reformatting.

    • 2). Insert the Vista CD into your computer and reboot the PC.

    • 3). Press any key to boot from the CD.

    • 4). Select the "Install Now" button.

    • 5). Choose the option to "Get Important Updates" and re-enter your product ID.

    • 6). Click on the button to accept the licensing agreement and choose the option to perform a "Custom" installation.

    • 7). Click on the "Advanced Drive Options" button and select the option to "Delete" your existing partitions.

    • 8). Choose the option to "Create" a single partition and select the option to format it using your desired file system type.

    • 9). Highlight your newly formatted partition and press "Enter" to complete the re-installation of Vista.
