- 1). Wipe the top and the sides of the desk clean with a tack cloth to remove any dust from sanding.
- 2). Measure the top and sides of the desk. Transfer the measurements to the back of the iron-on veneer and cut out the pieces with a utility knife.
- 3). Position the side pieces on the desk and iron them into place. Cut away any veneer that hangs over the top or bottom edges, using the utility knife.
- 4). Position the top piece and iron it onto the plywood. Cut away any overhanging veneer with the utility knife.

- 2). Apply primer to the top and sides of the desk with a paint sponge or roller. Let the primer dry completely before applying your paint.
- 3). Cover the desk with two layers of paint. High gloss paint is ideal for a smooth plywood surface and will seal the wood. If you prefer less shine, use a semigloss or flat paint, but follow up with two coats of varnish to seal the wood.
