How to Cleanse Your Computer

    • 1). Download and run CCleaner. A free version is available on the company's website.

    • 2). Check "Windows Error Reporting," "DNS Cache," "Start Menu Shortcuts," "Desktop Shortcuts," "Old Prefetch data" and "IIS Log Files." Leave the remaining defaults checked.

    • 3). Click the "Run Cleaner" button.

    • 4). Click the "Registry" button.

    • 5). Click "Scan For Issues."

    • 6). Click "Fix selected issues."

    • 7). Click "Yes." Save the registry file.

    • 8). Exit the program.

    • 9). Press the Windows logo key and "R" simultaneously.

      Type "msconfig" without quotes and press "Enter."

      Click the "Services" tab.

      Check "Hide all Microsoft services."

    • 13

      Uncheck unnecessary programs, such as reminders and updaters.

      Click the "Startup" tab.

      Uncheck unnecessary programs, such as reminders and updaters.

    • 16

      Click "OK."

    • 17

      Click "Restart." When the computer restarts, it has been cleansed and operates faster.
