- 1). Choose an area of your yard with no nearby obstructions and dig a 2-foot-deep hole with the post hole digger.
- 2). Drill two holes in the aluminum pole directly across from one another and 2 inches from the top. Pull the rope through both holes and tie a knot on one end so it can't slide through.
- 3). Put the pole in the hole you dug in step 1 and pour the cement around it. Wrap the rope around the pole so it won't get stuck in the cement. Let the cement dry overnight.
- 4). Once the cement is dry, string the rope through the top of the tetherball and tie it so that the ball hangs 3 to 4 inches from the ground. Cut off any excess rope.
