- 1). Clean the concrete basement floor and let it dry for 48 hours or more. Pour liquid leveler over any cracks, holes or dips in the surface. Let the leveler set for a day.
- 2). Divide the floor into four even square sections by using two intersecting lines. Square the lines to each other using a square.
- 3). Apply tile adhesive over the middle of the floor, covering the intersection and as much surrounding area as you can reach from one position. You will be able to see your lines through the adhesive.
- 4). Set the first vinyl floor tile in place at one corner of the intersection in the middle of the floor. Set additional tiles in place around it, setting the edges of each tile tightly together first and then dropping the rest of the tile into place.
- 5). Spread additional adhesive and continue laying tiles, building out from the center toward the walls along the lines. Install all the full tiles that will fit.
- 6). Allow the tiles to set for a day. Measure and cut the tiles for the edges of the floor, setting them in adhesive with the cut sides facing the walls.
