- 1). Check the household electrical panel for any tripped breakers or blown fuses if there is no power to the TV. Reset any breakers and replace blown fuses with new ones of the same amperage. Check that the power cord is securely plugged in to an A/C outlet. Test another electrical appliance in the same socket to check that it's working.
- 2). Set the POWER INDICATOR in the MENU to OFF if the power lamps do not come on when the TV is turned on.
- 3). Check that the input mode is set correctly if there is no picture or sound. Press the INPUT button on the TV or remote control to select the signal input source for the television. Inputs 1, 2, 3 and 4 are for devices such as VCR's, DVD players or camcorders. To return to TV mode, press the "Return+/TV" button.
- 4). Turn off the V-Chip lock, or Channel Block, if you are unable to select a certain channel. Press the MENU button on the remote control. Use the up and down arrows to scroll and highlight the V-CHIP selection. Press the left and right arrows to turn the V-Chip function off. Press MENU when you are done.
- 5). Turn off the closed caption text mode in the CLOSED CAPTION menu if the screen is 80 % black. Press the CC button on the remote control and select OFF to deactivate the closed caption feature and restore the screen.
