- 1). Pry off the trim on the exterior of the window. Slide a pry bar underneath the trim, and hammer on the end of the bar to wedge it underneath the trim. Pull back on the pry bar to begin pulling up the trim. Move around the entire outside of the window until all the trim is removed.
- 2). Move to the inside of the house, and remove the interior trim going around the window's perimeter in the same manner as the outside trim was removed. Remove the sill along the bottom of the window by prying it away from the window frame.
- 3). Attach a metal blade to a reciprocating saw and set it in between the window frame and the jamb. Cut the nails holding the window in place by moving up and down each side of the window to detach the window from the house.
- 4). Slide the window sashes down and tilt them out of the window. Pull out the bottom sash, and remove the top sash the same way. Cut the bottom sill of the frame with a reciprocating saw until it has been broken directly in half. Pull out the frame that was surrounding the window.
- 5). Inspect the area to make sure there are no particles left over from the old window. Ensure the area is clean. It is ready for installation of the new window.
