- 1). Open the PDF file with the images you would like to compress.
- 2). Navigate to the "File" menu and move the mouse cursor to "Save As...." Click on "Reduced Size PDF" on the sub-menu that appears.
- 3). Select which version of Adobe Acrobat you would like the PDF to be compatible with from the drop-down menu, and then click "OK."
- 4). Save the file using the dialog box that appears by selecting a location and clicking "Save." Acrobat will begin automatically compressing the images and PDF file.
- 5). Manually lower the resolution and file size of images in a PDF by returning to the "File -- Save As..." sub-menu and clicking "Optimized PDF." Go to the "Images" tab in the dialog box that appears. In the first number field after the "Downsample" option change the number to 72 ppi for each of the image types. This will lower the resolution to the web standard for images. Use this method if the photos are still too large after reducing the PDF file size.
