- 1). Contact your local cable provider. Ask how many tuners the upgraded DVR package has. Depending on your service provider there are at least two different tuners available (some have more than four).
- 2). Request to upgrade the DVR. When the order is placed you must either set up a day and time frame for the service technician to stop by and install the hardware, or pick up the equipment from a local service station.
- 3). Attach the coaxial cable running from the wall (this is the cable source) into the "In" port on the cable receiver. Hook up the video cables you had running from the original cable box into the "Out" ports on the hardware.
- 4). Power on the TV and the cable receiver. Push the "Guide" button on the receiver and you are now able to select at least one program to record, while viewing a different station at the same time.
