- 1). Drill one hole through the face of your 2-by-4 approximately every 12 inches, using a carbide drill bit and hand drill. Use a bit that is large enough to accept your lag bolts. If your wood is less than 12 inches long, drill two evenly spaced holes.
- 2). Place the 2-by-4 on the concrete surface where you want to anchor it. Mark each hole on the concrete and set the board aside.
- 3). Drill out the holes with a masonry drill bit and hammer drill. The bit should match the size of your wall anchor. Make sure the holes are deep enough to fit the entire wall anchor.
- 4). Clean each hole with a vacuum cleaner to suck out all of the concrete debris.
- 5). Place the split end of an anchor into the first hole and tap it in with a hammer until the top of the anchor is flush with the concrete surface. Repeat for all the holes.
- 6). Place the board onto the concrete and secure it to the anchors with lag bolts and a socket set.
