- The battery of a Sansa Fuze takes about three hours to become fully charged, according to SanDisk. It can be expected to play music for approximately 24 hours or video for five hours before needing to be recharged. AC chargers are available from SanDisk which have a 500-1000 milliamp output and therefore have a better charging ability than the USB cable that comes packaged with the Sansa Fuze.
- If the battery is not charging, check to make sure both ends of the cable are properly plugged in. Each end has an "up" and a "down" side, so make sure you have them plugged in with the correct side up. Try a different USB port on your computer, if the first one doesn't work. Make sure your computer has USB 2.0, since older USB formats are not as capable of charging. Charge with your computer on, because the USB function won't work if the computer is off or in hibernation mode.
- You can buy a new battery from the Battery Mart and replace the dead one, if your Sansa Fuze refuses to charge and you have tried all of the suggestions above. Pry the case open and pop loose the clips, being careful not to open the two halves too far until you have disconnected the ribbon cable from the circuit board. Unscrew the circuit board. Take the battery out and disconnect the wires. Replace it with the new battery and put everything back together again.
