- 1). Measure up 1-inch from the outside bottom corner of the cabinet door with a tap measure and mark the cabinet with a pencil. Align the tape measure to the side of the cabinet door and measure in 1-inch and make the cross mark. The cross mark is where you drill the first hole.
- 2). Insert a drill bit into your drill that is the same diameter as your handle screw. Drill a hole at the 1-inch cross mark through the cabinet door. To avoid splinters on the back of the cabinet door, you can clamp a piece of wood to the back of the door where the handle is installing with twp wood carpenters clamps.
- 3). Measure the distance between the center of the handle mounting holes with the tape measure. Transfer the measurement from the center of the hole in the cabinet. Mark the measurement with the pencil.
- 4). Place the end of the tape measure on the side of the door near the second mounting mark and measure in 1-inch. mark the 1-inch measurement over the previous mark to form the second cross mark.
- 5). Drill the second hole just as you did the first. Open the cabinet door and remove the block of wood, if you clamped on to the back. Insert the mounting screws through the back of the cabinet door.
- 6). Place your handle over the face of the cabinet door lining up the ends of the screws with the handle mounting holes. Tighten the screws with a Phillips-head screwdriver until the handle is flush against the door face.
