- 1). Cover your work table with sheets of newspaper to protect its surface. Hand your child a smock to wear to protect her clothing.
- 2). Ask your child what type of pie she wants to make. Have her identify what colors belong with the type of pie she names. You may even want to locate a picture of the pie. Possible pie choices include pumpkin pie, apple pie, cherry pie and lemon meringue pie.
- 3). Supply your child with paints in the colors of the pie she chose. A pumpkin pie, for example, requires brown paint for the crust and orange paint for the pumpkin filling. Allow your child to paint the paper plate.
- 4). Give your child any extra supplies she needs to complete the pie look. A spice can be glued to the surface of the pie, or a dollop of whipped cream can be added to the center of the pie using a cotton ball. Fake fruit pieces cut from construction paper can also be glued around the pie if desired.
