- 1). Contact your ISP and ask for their correct DNS server settings. Most ISPs allow your computer to automatically ask for and receive the correct settings. However, some ISPs require their customers to specify the correct IP addresses for their DNS servers in their computer's DNS settings. If that is the case, write down both the primary and alternate DNS servers' IP addresses of your ISP.
- 2). Click "Start," "Control Panel" and "Network and Internet."
- 3). Click "Network and Sharing Center." Then click "Change adapter settings" in the left-hand pane.
- 4). Right-click on the icon of the network you normally use to connect to the Internet, and select "Properties."
- 5). Select "Internet Protocol Version 4" in the list, and click "Properties."
- 6). Click "Obtain DNS server address automatically" if your ISP told you to use automatic settings. If your ISP told you to use specific IP addresses, select "Use the following DNS server addresses" and type the IP addresses in the "Preferred DNS" and "Alternate DNS" fields. Click "OK" and reboot your computer to apply the new DNS settings.
