- 1). Remove all furniture, rugs, lamps and any other items from the floor so there is nothing on the floor area. Put rubber gloves on to protect your hands from touching the stripper. Wax stripper can cause irritation to skin.
- 2). Add the floor wax stripper to a bucket and dilute with water according to the package instructions. Dip the mop into the solution and start applying it to the floor. Start in one corner in a 2-foot by 4-foot section, and work side to side.
- 3). Mop two 2-foot by 4-foot sections with the stripper. This allows the first section to start working while you apply stripper to the second section.
- 4). Scrape up the wax from the first section using a long-handled floor scraper. Scrape the old wax from the section into a pile on the floor. Sweep the old wax into a dustpan and dispose of it into the second bucket.
- 5). Fill the third bucket with fresh water. Mop the area in the first section with clean water on the second sponge mop.
- 6). Apply stripper with the mop to the third section of the floor. Scrape up the old wax on the second section, dispose of it into the waste bucket and mop with clean water. Continue stripping the wax from the entire floor following this process.
