- 1). Stop processes that you do not require. Right-click the computer mouse on the tiny icons in the taskbar that you do not use on a consistent basis. Press the "Control," "Alt" and "Delete" keys at the same time. This causes the "Task Manager" to appear. Click "Processes" and use the mouse to highlight any additional items you desire to put an end to and choose the "End Process" option.
- 2). Do not perform many tasks at one time on the computer. When you run many programs at the same time, the computer has to deal with a great deal of information at the same time and this can cause it to use a large amount of RAM.
- 3). Go to the "Start" menu on the laptop or desktop computer. Right-click "My Computer" and choose the "Properties" option. Click "Advanced" and click on "Settings" via the "Performance" tab. Finally, click "Memory Usage" and "Programs" and save the modifications you make.
