- 1). Download a program that can help you convert your DVD to the file format you need. Examples include Format Factory and Xilisoft.
- 2). Visit the site for one of the programs below by clicking on the link, such as "Format Factory."
- 3). Click on the download link on the site's page. This program is free to try out. Install the program by opening the installation file once the conversion program's file is completely on your computer.
- 4). Click on the section with "DVD" in it on the main screen. Click on "DVD to Video File." Hit the drop-down menu next to "Output Format" and choose "Mobile Device."
- 5). Hit the "Output Format" button. Click on the "iPod" section and select the iPod type that you have from the list. Click "OK." Click "Convert." The program will now send your DVD file into iPod format on your computer.
- 6). Click on "Output Folder" in the main program page. Find your DVD file, and then click and drag it to your iTunes program, which you can download from the iTunes website if you don't already have it. Hook up your iPod to your computer with the USB cord. Click the "Sync" button to send the file to your iPod.
