Scrapbook Ideas for Teachers

A handmade scrapbook for your child's teacher is a memorable and heartfelt gift. Design the album yourself or allow your children to create scrapbooks on their own. You could also get the whole class involved in the project. Elementary school teachers especially appreciate a gift filled with memories to look back on as they watch your children grow. Give these scrapbooks during the holidays or at the end of the school year.

ABC Book

Create a scrapbook album featuring 26 pages, one for each letter of the alphabet. Use the letters to make the names of the teacher's students or even words describing the admirable characteristics of the teacher. Consider creating scrapbook-style "flash card" pages with photos of each student or make "A for Apple," "B for Banana" and so on. Instruct the children to draw and cut the shapes for decorating the letter pages.

Design scrapbook pages that your children or the class can fill in. Write questions about the teacher, such as "What was your favorite thing (teacher's name) taught this year?" or "What did you like most about being in (teacher's name) class?" Create a page for each question. Include a small journaling space under the question on each page layout and allow the children to fill in the spaces with their answers. Add a photograph of each child next to his writing.

Feature a field trip in a scrapbook album. Use decorative paper and craft supplies with a school theme. Add photographs from the trip and allow the children to write down their own memories about the activities they enjoyed that day. Include copies of ticket stubs, admission bracelets and tourist brochures.

Make your child's music teacher a collage scrapbook filled with copies of music she played or sang during the year. Include photographs from concerts, recitals and events. Create a sports-related scrapbook for a gym teacher or coach. Consider adding newspaper clippings along with photographs from games or events. Fill a scrapbook album with your child's artwork for the art teacher. Add a caption next to each page explaining the works and the mediums used to create them.
