- 1). Remove the battery cover and insert the batteries into the mouse. Check for polarity. Both the batteries and the mouse will have plus and minus icons. Switch on the mouse with the switch.
- 2). Insert the receiver device that came with the mouse into a spare USB slot on the computer. Use a slot that's on the computer rather than a hub to eliminate possible problems. If you do use a hub, make sure it's powered. Follow any on-screen prompts to install drivers or mate the mouse with the computer.
- 3). Insert the disc that came with the mouse into the computer's drive bay and follow any prompts that appear on the screen.
- 4). Move the mouse around on the desk as you would a wired, nonoptical mouse. You will see the cursor move on the screen. However, don't use a glass or mirrored desk because the reflections will confuse the optical mapping that needs to take place. Don't use a desk with deep grain. In addition, don't place the mouse on a metal desk as the metal can create interference with the wireless radio functionality.
