- 1). Write out a list of words for the game. Use a theme for your words such as "animals," "movies," or "United States cities."
- 2). Write down each word on a separate 3-by-5-inch index card. Use all capital letters. Space out the letters so they extend across the entire card.
- 3). Cut between each letter of the first index card so that you are left with single letters on pieces of index card. For example, if the word is "Chicago," one piece will have "C," one will have "H," one will have "I" and so on.
- 4). Place the letters from one word into a cup. Cover the cup with your hand and shake it several times.
- 5). Dump out the letters in front of you. Arrange the letters so they are all face up with one next to another. All the letters will be jumbled.
- 6). Rearrange any letters if more than three consecutive letters are the same as in the original word. For example, if in "Chicago" you see "CAG" then mix them to be "ACG."
- 7). Write down the jumbled word on your list of words. Repeat with the rest of the words on your list. Use your written list as the answer key for your game.
- 8). Type up the jumbled words, one per line, in any word processing program.
- 9). Type as many underscores next to the jumbled word as there are letters in the word. For example, if your word has six letters then type "_ _ _ _ _ _" without quotation marks. The underscores are used to write the letters of the unscrambled word.

Print out the jumble and give it to your player to solve.
