- 1). Unwind a piece of yarn at least 8 inches from a ball of yarn and use it to make a slip knot around the left side of the circular needle.
- 2). Hold the left side of the circular needle with the right hand, holding the slip knot down so it doesn't move.
- 3). Hold the two tails of yarn from the needle in the left hand.
- 4). Spread the two tails of yarn apart with the thumb and forefinger of the left hand.
- 5). Wrap the needle under the yarn between the thumb and the palm--this is the first loop--and then over the yarn and through on the forefinger and palm, pulling up through the first loop and tight against the needle. Repeat this action for the desired number of cast-on stitches.
