Lite Cubes come in varied colors, including natural white, blue, red, green and yellow. Lite Cubes LLC also makes novelty shapes in the form of various balls for sports, including golf, soccer, football and basketball shapes, as well pumpkins for Halloween. Other products include LED-lit shot glasses and novelty straws.

A number of competitors produce glowing LED drink products that are similar to Lite Cubes, and there are also glow stick-style xylem chemical glow cubes and glasses. Xylem chemical glow products are non-toxic, but contact with skin leaves a rash and ingestion can lead to nausea. If purchasing a Lite Cube substitute, make sure that the materials are food-grade quality.

Danki Kagaku Kogyo K.K. manufactures the Lite Cube polystyrene exterior from Denka Styrol MW-1, which complies with FDA regulation 21 CFR part 177.1640 for use in food containers, including those intended for aqueous or fatty foods, as well as use as an indirect food additive. The clear plastic forms a durable coating for the freezable gel. According to tests conducted in 2004 by Intertek Testing Services, levels of lead and heavy metals was less than 5mg per kilogram

The freezable gel inside the Lite Cube is manufactured by Tung Yuan Industrial Co. Ltd. in Taoyuan Hsien, Taiwan. The gel complies with the ASTM F-963-96 standard for heavy metal and lead content. Taipei's Taiwan Toy research and Development Center tested the gel in 1998 and found that it has less than .0003 percent of any of these elements, except for the green gel, which presented .0004 percent soluble lead, which still complies with the relevant standard. Also contained within are the LED, lithium-ion battery and the circuitry.

Lite Cubes are not toys. They are adult novelties and, like all small objects, should not be allowed near infants or pets.
The Lite Cubes packaging contains an advisory warning that the product is not intended for children under age three.
Wash the Lite Cube thoroughly before use; dispose of the lithium-ion battery properly; and do not expose it to extreme heat sources or use it with hot drinks.
