PS3 Repair on PS3 That Won’T Turn On, Only Flashing Red Light in Power Button

What a frustration when you are trying to turn on the PS3 and it won't, instead flashing red lights keeps on linking on the power button. Most often, people will associate the flashing red light on the power button as a result of overheating. Actually this is different from Xbox 360 red ring of death error which is caused by overheating. The flashing red light on the power button has nothing to do with overheating.

This kind of problem that will need a PS3 repair is caused by connection error between the motherboard and the hard drive. If there is no proper working connection the PS3 will not be able to function properly and just stays on the shut down mode. The flashing red light simply stands as a warning that there is something wrong with the console. The PS3 is equipped with a built-in safeguard that will prevent the console from accidentally damaging it.

The fact that it won't turn on and the red light keeps on blinking, the PS3 repair needed here is to fix the connection between the mother board and the hard drive. You can do this on your own while the PS3 is still shut down. Go to the hard drive enclosure located at the end of the console. Take out the plastic cover plate and then unscrew it from the socket using a screwdriver. Remove it completely in a careful manner and then place it back again. Screw it back again and be sure that it is very tight. Restart the PS3.

Most often, this is only the repair that needs to be done on this kind of PS3 problem. Once it is properly connected, restart the unit and the red light that keeps on blinking should be gone and the console should be working by now. This is a very simple process as long as you know what you are doing and it should be done properly. The process of repairing will take only a few minutes and after that you can now enjoy playing with your PS3 unit.

If this won't work, a more complicated PS3 repair should be done but you don't have to bring your console to the repair shop on this kind of problem. All you need to do is to buy a repair guide that will teach you how to fix the console on your own from the internet which is usually $20 to $30, a lot cheaper than bringing it to Sony Service Center which will cost you $150.
