- 1). Make three chain stitches and join them with a slip stitch to form a circle. Chain one and make five single crochets inside this circle.
- 2). Crochet in a spiral direction to increase the size of your fascinator. For round two, make two single crochets in every stitch around; as you make the first single crochet of this round, clip a crochet stitch marker onto it to mark the beginning of the round.
- 3). Make two single crochets in the first stitch of round three followed by one single crochet in the following stitch; repeat this pattern around for a total of 15 single crochet stitches.
- 4). Make one single crochet in the first stitch of round four, then make six chain stitches. Slip stitch in the second chain from the hook and in each chain down for a total of five slip stitches.
- 5). Single crochet in the next available stitch around the circle. Make six chain stitches, then slip stitch in the second chain from the hook and in each subsequent chain back down. Repeat this step three more times for a total of five "branches" off the body of the fascinator.
- 6). Finish off the body of the fascinator. Slip stitch in the next available stitch around the circle. Cut the working yarn with scissors, leaving a 4-inch tail. Use your crochet hook to pull this tail and any others through several stitches on the back of the fascinator to hide it away.
- 7). Assemble the fascinator. As an optional added touch, sew a spray of feathers onto the back of the fascinator and sew some coordinating beads around the spiral of the circle or on each of the branches you crocheted. Position the fascinator so that the branches spray up and to the back of the way you will wear it, then sew it to a snap hair barrette or a headband so you can wear it.
