- 1). Set up a ladder long enough to access your roof gutters. The ladder should be tall enough that you do not need to stand on the top two rungs to reach your gutters. This is a safety hazard.
- 2). Put on heavy gloves before you start cleaning out your gutters. This will protect your hands from the gutters' sharp edges and sharp objects that may be inside the gutters.
- 3). Place a narrow garden trowel inside the gutters to remove large pieces of debris. Scoop the debris in the opposite direction of the drain outlet and drop the debris in a plastic bucket attached to the ladder (if possible).
- 4). Use a high powered spray nozzle on your hose to rinse your gutters once the loose debris has been removed. Spray the water toward the drain outlet do assure all loose debris is flushed out.
- 5). Scrub away any stuck debris with a stiff scrub brush, and rinse the roof gutters again with your hose.
