- 1). Empty and wash a 28-ounce and a 13.5-ounce tin can. Dry them completely.
- 2). Place a ¼ pound of paraffin wax inside the smaller can. Place that can inside the larger can. A candle can be used in place of the paraffin wax.
- 3). Place the tin cans over a heat source. A stove burner is sufficient. Melt the wax but do not allow it to come to a boil.
- 4). Remove the cans from the heat source and place them on newspapers to avoid a mess on the table or counter.
- 5). Dip the leaves into the wax, holding them by their stems, for a second or two.
- 6). Remove the leaves from the melted wax. Allow excess wax to drip back into the can. Transfer the leaf to a sheet of waxed paper and let it cool and harden. Dip the leaves again for a thicker coating. If you apply a second coat, allow the leaves to cool completely before dipping them again.
- 7). Add a glossy finish to the leaves, if desired, by brushing them with a glossy sealant.
