- 1). Rinse off the plastic plants under warm, running water. This will get rid of some of the loose algae.
- 2). Fill the sink or tub with warm water. Submerge the plants in the water. Swish them around vigorously to loosen the algae.
- 3). Scrub the plants further with an old toothbrush to remove any remaining algae. Rinse the plants again under warm, running water and then towel-dry them thoroughly.
- 4). Fill the sink or tub with a mixture of 10 parts warm water and 1 part chlorine bleach if algae is still present. Soak the plastic plants in the bleach mixture for 15 minutes and then scrub them with the toothbrush. Rinse off the plants thoroughly under warm water. Then towel-dry them well.
