- 1). Fold your sandpaper and sand inside and immediately around each scratch and dent, getting rid or all gloss and loose material. Blow out the dust.
- 2). Pack wood putty into the gaps and scratches with your thumb. Get it packed tightly. Use enough putty that it mounds up a little from the surface.
- 3). Scrape the edge of an old credit card over the mounded putty, cutting it flat and even with the floor.
- 4). Let the putty dry overnight. Lightly buff it with your sandpaper. Blow off the dust.
- 5). Brush polyurethane gloss over each repaired area using a small paint brush. Blend the gloss as best you can with the surrounding gloss. Let it dry for 12 hours.
- 6). Lightly sand the dried polyurethane and apply a second coat. Let it dry overnight.
