Photo Recovery on Mobile Devices

Photos Saved on a Memory Card

    • 1). Remove the memory card from the phone. The location of the memory card slot varies by phone model; usually it is under the battery or battery cover, but sometimes is on the side.

    • 2). Place the memory card into a memory card reader. Most cell phones use fingernail-sized memory cards called MicroSD cards, so you will probably need to use the adapter that came with the memory card. Slide the MicroSD card into the top of the adapter, and press the lock lever on the side of the adapter.

    • 3). If you are using an external card reader, plug the USB card reader into the USB port on your computer. If your card reader is internal, simply slide the adapter into the card reader slot.

    • 4). Open the "Computer" icon on the Windows Start Menu and look for the drive letter of your memory card. Double-click on the memory card icon to open it. Look for a folder that says "Pictures" or "Images," and double-click on it. Copy the images by right-clicking on the file name and selecting "Copy," then paste them onto the desktop by right-clicking and selecting "Paste."

    • 5). Recover deleted images from the card using software.

    Pictures Saved on the Phone

    • 1). Plug the phone's USB data cable into the data port on the phone, and plug the other end into an open USB port on your PC. The computer may prompt you to install drivers if this is the first time connecting the phone. The computer should be able to install the drivers automatically, but if not, browse to the web page of your phone's manufacturer to download and install them manually.

    • 2). Open the "Computer" icon on the Windows Start Menu. Look for the drive letter of your phone.

    • 3). Double-click on the drive letter for your phone, then look for a folder called "Images" or "Pictures." Double-click on it to open it.

    • 4). Copy the images to your hard drive by right-clicking on the file name and left-clicking on "Copy," then paste them onto the computer's desktop by right-clicking on the desktop and left-clicking on "Paste."

    • 5). Recover deleted images from the phone using software.
