- 1). Check your SD memory card. The card's lock switch may be flipped, preventing you from importing data to and from the card. Eject the card and turn the switch in the opposite direction. Insert the card back into the laptop and it should work fine.
- 2). Open your Internet browser and make your way to the laptop's manufacturer site if the computer isn't reading your SD card. This is typically due to the card slot's driver being deleted. Select your computer under "Support," then choose the operating system you are running. Download any drivers available for SD card slots. Once it's downloaded, double-click the file to initiate the driver installation wizard. Follow the set of prompts to complete the driver installation. When this is complete, your computer can detect the inserted SD card.
- 3). Push the SD card into the laptop's card slot if the card isn't ejecting. The card typically functions like a clicker pen, and when you push the card in it ejects. However, if it doesn't, it means part of the card is stuck on the inside of the computer. With a pair of small needle-nose pliers, take hold of the SD card. Gently manipulate the card down and away from the laptop until it comes free. Do not force anything. You just want to wiggle the card until it comes loose of what it is stuck on.
