- 1). Find the DVD that is on your hard drive. A good place to check is the "Personal Video" folder, which is a default folder in Windows 7. Click the "Start" button in the lower left corner of your desktop and type the name of the DVD or the words "Personal Video" in the field above the button and hit your "Enter" key on your keyboard. Click the link that appears to the DVD or the "Personal Video" folder, depending on your search. Note the DVD's location once you find it.
- 2). Click the "Start" button in the lower-left corner of the desktop. Scroll up and click "Programs" and then click Windows Media Player, which will be in the list of programs installed on your computer.
- 3). Click "File" in the main menu bar, scroll down and click "Open." Click the small arrow in the "Look in" field. A group of folders will appear in a drop-down menu. Click the folder where the DVD is located. Click on the DVD so it is highlighted. Click the "Open" button in the bottom right corner of the window.
- 4). Wait for the DVD to load into Windows Media Player. Depending on the DVD, it may start to play automatically. If it does not, click the large "Play" button at the bottom of the interface.
