- 1). Click the Windows Start button and select "All Programs." Choose "PartitionMagic" from the menu selection.
- 2). Select the partition to edit. A list of current partitions and unused disk space is shown upon starting the application.
- 3). Select "Operations" from the menu and choose "Resize/Move." This opens a window that shows the current partition's size with a slide control that allows you to edit its size and location.
- 4). Select a new size for the partition and click OK.
- 5). Highlight unallocated space. PartitionMagic shows a list of open hard-drive disk space that has no partition and is unused. Partitioning this unused space makes it available for use by the operating system.
- 6). Click the "Operations" menu and select "Create" from the list.
- 7). Select configurations for the new partition. Enter the size of the new partition and give it a name. For instance, the new hard-drive label may be "S" for storage. This letter is the label shown in the "My Computer" directory in Windows. Click OK.
- 8). Set the active partition. The active partition is the section of the hard drive used for booting. If you do not set an active partition, the computer won't boot. Highlight the partition and select "Operations" from the menu and choose "Advanced." From the "Advanced" menu, select "Set Active."
- 9). Click the "Exit" button and reboot the machine for the changes to take effect.
