- 1). Identify and map the locations of all mud bee nests.
- 2). Crush as many nests as you can using a long stick or pole. Scrape any nests on the sides of buildings. Mud bees typically avoid you, so even if the adults begin to vacate the nests, they should not sting you. If you see any larvae (small, white and grub-like), destroy those too.
- 3). Mix the insecticide Cypermethrin: one ounce of concentrated Cypermethrin with a gallon of water. This ratio will cover 500 to 1,000 square feet. Most homes need between two and four gallons for adequate coverage.
- 4). Administer the Cypermethrin to the infested area using a pump sprayer, hosing down both the crushed nests and the surrounding areas. Until the ground or structures are completely dried, avoid contact with the sprayed area.
- 5). Repeat this process until mud bees no longer return to the area or have been exterminated. In the spring and summer, expect to spray the area at least once a month.
