- 1). Always wear protective gloves while working with a breaker box or fuse box. When installing the split-core current sensors, make sure you have a two-piece assembly for each of the phases to be monitored. Use a flat-head screwdriver to release the nylon clamp and open the assembly.
- 2). Find the conductor to be monitored and reassemble the assembly around it. These devices come with indicators, such as arrows, showing how to properly orient them. Be sure the nylon clamp is firmly sealed.
- 3). To install the solid-core current sensors, first turn off the power to the conductors to be monitored and detach them from the breaker box or fuse box. Place the current sensor over the top of the conductor and snap it into place. Replace the conductor to the breaker box or fuse box.
- 4). Find the black and white leads attached to the current sensor assembly and connect them to the meter terminal block. Exactly how these should be connected depend entirely on your monitoring needs. Consult the user manual for wiring diagrams that meet your particular needs.
- 5). Find the line voltage input wires. Connect them to the meter terminal block using the wiring diagrams. To avoid electric shocks, never connect voltage wires to the meter terminal block while they are live. Only apply voltage to the meter after installation.
