- 1). Remove the antenna from the top of the scanner.
- 2). Twist an end of the copper wire around the metal receptacle the other antenna connected to. Use the electrical tape to secure it.
- 3). Run the length of copper wire out a window. The longer the wire, the better. Also, if it is possible to run the wire up to the roof and hang it off something, you will get a much better signal.
- 4). Turn the scanner on and begin to receive frequencies from much farther distances than before.
