- 1). Fold a piece of paper in half lengthwise, creating a slight crease down the middle.
- 2). Start at the middle and draw a half of a heart ending at the bottom directly beside the crease. Cut out the half heart shape and unfold to see a full heart shape.
- 3). Place the heart on a piece of cardboard and trace around the outside of it with a marker. Remove the paper heart and cut around the traced outline to create your cardboard heart.
- 4). Decorate the heart by painting it red or your favorite color. Use a craft paint found at popular chain stores and craft markets. It may need 2 to 3 coats depending on the color of the cardboard. For more flair, cut lace, felt, denim or tulle to cover the heart. Drip a small amount of glue around the outside of the fabric after cutting to fit the heart and place on top of the heart. Press down gently to hold and let dry for about 15 minutes. Draw or write "Love" or something sweet inside, if desired, with a permanent marker or paint.
