- 1). Cut a section of speaker wire, sufficient to reach from the amplifier's installed location to the subwoofers.
- 2). Separate the two halves of the speaker wire by pulling the ends in opposite directions.
- 3). Strip 1/2 inch of insulation from each end of both wires. Twist the bare wires into tight spirals to avoid frays.
- 4). Loosen the positive and negative speaker wire terminals on the amplifier. Slide one of the wires into the positive terminal. Slip the other other wire into the negative. Tighten each screw down to secure the speaker wires.
- 5). Flip over both subwoofers. Locate the positive terminal on the first subwoofer. Slide the speaker wire leading from the positive terminal on the amp the red (positive) terminal on the sub. Repeat for the negative terminal on the second sub.
- 6). Snip another section of wire, long enough to span the remaining speaker terminals on each subwoofer. Strip 1/2 inch of insulation from this wire.
- 7). Slide the jumper wire into the negative terminal on the first subwoofer. Join this wire with the positive terminal on the second.
- 1). Access the back of the monoblock amplifier. Look for the pair of speaker wire terminals on the back.
- 2). Cut two lengths of speaker wire long enough to reach from the amplifier's location in the equipment rack to each subwoofer location. Dual subwoofers perform well in most rooms placed opposite one another along each side wall, or at the front and back of the room.
- 3). Loosen the four binding post nuts on the back of the monoblock amplifier. Note the holes on the binding posts as the nuts are loosened. Most monoblock home subwoofer amplifiers have two sets of outputs internally wired together, permitting use of two subwoofers.
- 4). Strip 1/2 inch of wire from both ends of each speaker wire. Twist the bare wires into tight spirals, preventing frays from potentially causing short circuits.
- 5). Slide the positive and negative wires wires into one of the speaker wire terminal pairs on the back of the amp. Note the color or presence of a molded ridge or printing on one of the wire terminals. Use that wire as your positive lead. Tighten the posts down by hand to secure the wires. Typically, positive binding posts terminals are indicated with a red label or stripe, with negative terminals having a black label or stripe.
- 6). Connect the other end of the wires to the matching binding post terminals on the subwoofer, in the same manner as the amp. Ensure the positive and negative wires at the subwoofer and amplifier matches up. Repeat the wiring process for the second subwoofer.
