- 1). Place your sweater, ink stain side down, on a clean, white cloth.
- 2). Dampen another clean cloth with a stain-removing spray or a dry cleaning solvent.
- 3). Using the dampened cloth, pat the stained area -- you'll be patting the back side of the stain. Work from the outside edges of the stain inward, using a blotting motion. The stain should begin to transfer to the cloth your sweater is laying on -- carefully lift the sweater often and move to a clean area of the cloth. You may need to flip the cloth over or get a new cloth.
- 4). Continue blotting until you no longer see any ink transferring to the cloth.
- 5). Apply a color safe bleach to the stained area -- this should remove any remaining dye. Wash your sweater according to the label instructions -- use the hottest water that is safe for the fabric.
- 6). Allow the sweater to air dry and inspect for any remaining ink stains. Repeat the above procedures if necessary.
