- 1). Shut down any programs currently running and unplug any peripheral hardware connected to your eMachine, such as USB devices or memory cards. Put the restore CD in the computer's disk drive and close the "AutoPlay" window when it appears on the screen.
- 2). Click "Start" and select "Restart." Wait for the restart process to pause momentarily when the "Press any key to boot from CD" message loads on the screen.
- 3). Press any key to load the program on the restore CD. Click the drop-down menus and select your language, time, and keyboard input options. Choose "Next," and click the blue arrow labeled "Install Now."
- 4). Select the check box titled, "I accept the license terms." Click "Next" to load the next screen. Select "Custom" and click the "Drive Options" button. Click the entry for your eMachine's hard drive and choose "Next."
- 5). Click "Next" and follow the prompts to choose your user name, password and network options for the new installation of Windows. Choose "Finish" to load the newly-restored operating system.
