Set a time schedule. Next to each chore or decluttering project, set a specific amount of time you are willing to devote to it. For example: You want to wash and polish your floor once a month and it takes around 2 hours to do this chore. On your chore chart write "First Saturday of the month--2 hours" next to the wash and polish floors chore. - 3

Using a separate chart, break out your daily, weekly and monthly chores and decluttering projects. For your monthly chores and decluttering, place the month you will be working on the chore behind it. That way, you will not overextend yourself or become overwhelmed. - 4). Put your schedule into practice. Toward the end of each month, look ahead to the next month. Purchase and gather any supplies you will need for the month's projects, such as boxes for decluttering, carpet cleaner or floor polish.
