- 1). Lay out a paper strip in front of you.
- 2). Make an angled fold about 2 inches from the end. Fold the end underneath the strip, so the end points up from the strip at a 30-degree angle.
- 3). Fold the end over the strip. Fold it at a similar angle, so it points down from the strip at about a 120-degree angle. You should notice a pentagon beginning to form.
- 4). Fold the end back under the strip so that the edge lines up with the first fold in Step 2.
- 5). Fold the tip back over the pentagonal shape. This creates a base "knot" to start folding around.
- 6). Lift up the strip by the knot, and fold the strip under the knot. This will create a slightly thicker knot, but maintain the pentagonal shape. Repeat this fold, wrapping the rest of the strip around the knot.
- 7). Tuck the last 1/2 inch or so of the strip inside the last layer. This seals off the knot, preventing it from unraveling later.
- 8). Pinch a corner of the knot, then rotate and pinch the next corner. Repeat for all five corners, causing the shape to puff up and form the puffy star.
- 9). Repeat Steps 1 through 8 for any other stars you want to make.
