- 1). Click the Windows "Start" button and select the "Control Panel" program link.
- 2). Click the "System and Maintenance" link from the Control Panel window.
- 3). Click the option for the "Backup and Restore Center."
- 4). Click the button labeled "Restore Files."
- 5). Click the radio button corresponding to the option "Files from an Older Backup." A file navigation window will appear.
- 6). Insert the CD with the backup files into the CD/DVD drive.
- 7). Navigate to the files to restore on the CD using the file navigation window.
- 8). Click to select the files to restore and then click "OK." The files will be recovered and restored to the hard drive.
- 9). Click the "Finish" button when the copy process has completed. The files have now been restored.

Test the files by opening them in their native application to view.
