- 1). Keep the increases at the front edges of the piece. There are no increases at the seams. There is no need for shaping at the seams since a shrug is short, landing right below the bust line.
- 2). Purl into the front and knit into the back of the first edge stitch if the first stitch is a knit stitch. Work to the edge of the other side of the shrug and knit into the front then purl into the back of the last stitch if the last stitch is a knit stitch.
- 3). Knit into the front and purl into the back of the first edge stitch if the first stitch is a purl stitch. Work to the edge of the other side of the shrug and purl into the front then knit into the back of the last stitch if the stitch is a purl stitch.
- 4). Continue in this manner, increasing at the first or last stitch on each edge and keeping the new stitches in the rib pattern.
