- 1). Left-click the start button and left-click "Control Panel" in the pop-up menu.
- 2). In the Control Panel window, double-click "Mouse." The "Mouse Properties" dialog box opens.
- 3). Left-click the "Buttons" tab at the top of the "Mouse Properties" dialog box. The "Buttons" tab opens.
- 4). Under "Button configurations," left-click the radio button next to "Right-handed " or "Left-handed" to select the one you prefer.
- 5). Under "Double Click Speed," left-click, hold and drag the slider to adjust the speed of your double clicks.
- 6). Under "ClickLock," left-click the check box to enable "ClickLock," which allows you to drag-and-drop without requiring the mouse button to be held down.
- 1). Left-click the "Pointers" tab at the top of the "Mouse Properties" dialog box. The "Pointers" tab opens.
- 2). Under "Scheme," left-click the arrow to open the drop down menu and left-click a new scheme in the list to select it and change the appearance of all your mouse pointers.
- 3). Change individual pointers by left-clicking and highlighting the one your want to change in the list under "Customize."
- 4). Left-click "Browse" and left-click the pointer you want.
- 5). Left-click "Open" to select your chosen pointer.
- 6). Left-click "Use Default" at the bottom to return to the original settings.
- 1). Left-click the "Pointer Options" tab. The "Pointer Options" tab opens.
- 2). Under "Motion," left-click, hold and drag the slider to adjust the speed of your pointer.
- 3). Left-click the check box next to "Enhance pointer precision" for more accurate clicks when using the mouse slowly.
- 4). Left-click the check box under "Snap To" to place the pointer automatically on default buttons inside all dialog boxes.
- 5). Under "Visibility," left-click the check box next to "Display pointer trails" to show trails behind your pointer. This enhances the visibility of your pointer.
- 6). Left-click, and then hold and drag the slider to adjust the length of your pointer trails.
- 7). Left-click the check box beside "Hide pointer while typing" to make your pointer invisible when you are typing.
- 8). Left-click the check box beside "Show location of the pointer when I press the CTRL key" to make your pointer instantly visible when you press the "Ctrl" on your keyboard.
- 1). Left-click the "Wheel" tab. The "Wheel" tab opens.
- 2). Under "Vertical Scrolling," left-click the radio button next to "The following number of lines at a time" to set the number of lines one wheel notch scrolls through.
- 3). Type the number of lines you want to scroll with one wheel notch in the field below the radio button.
- 4). Left-click the radio button next to "One screen at time" to scroll an entire screen with one wheel notch.
- 5). Under "Horizontal Scrolling," type the number of characters you want to scroll with one tilt. This is not applicable with all mice.
