How to Set Autoplay on Windows XP Home Edition

    • 1). Launch Windows Explorer by clicking the Windows "Start" menu and clicking "My Computer." Alternatively, launch Windows Explorer by right clicking the Windows "Start" menu and clicking "Explore."

    • 2). Right click the CD/DVD-ROM drive and click "Properties." You should see a list of tabs. Click the "AutoPlay" tab.

    • 3). Select "Music CD" or "DVD Movie" in the "Content type" box. Select the action that you want to perform automatically each time you insert a music CD or DVD movie into the CD/DVD-ROM drive. For example, select the default media player you want to use to play a music CD or DVD movie in the "Actions" window.

    • 4). Select the other content type that you want to adjust in the "Content type" box and select the action to perform in the "Actions" box. For example, select "Pictures" in the "Content type" box if you want to select the AutoPlay options for a picture CD. Select the default image viewer that you want to use to display the images on the CD automatically.

    • 5). Click "Apply" when you finish configuring your AutoPlay settings. Click "OK" to save the changes. Whenever you insert a CD or DVD disc into the CD/DVD-ROM drive, it launches automatically using the AutoPlay settings that you selected.
