- 1). Locate the case or the sleeve for your Microsoft Windows XP disc. Usually, the Product Key will be on the case or sleeve, printed on an orange or yellow sticker. There are 25 characters in a Microsoft Product Key, and the characters are usually divided into five groups of five.
- 2). Check your computer unit for the Product Key. If you had Windows XP preinstalled by the computer manufacturer, the Product Key might be printed on a sticker on the unit.
- 3). Contact Microsoft customer support at 800-642-7676 if you cannot find your Product Key. In order to get a replacement Product Key, Microsoft might need information from your XP software disk or from your computer.
