How to Set Up Windows XP Fax

    Add Fax Component to PC

    • 1). Open your Control Panel by clicking on the opening your Windows Start menu and then selecting "Control Panel."

    • 2). Select "Add or Remove Programs," choose "Add/Remove Windows Components," select the "Fax Services" check box and then click "Next." The Windows Component Wizard opens.

    • 3). Install your modem by following the instructions outlined in your modem's manual and then connect your modem to a working phone line, making sure your phone line is connected to a working jack.

    • 4). Follow the Windows Component Wizard prompts to add a fax component to your PC successfully.

    Configure Fax Console

    • 1). Click "Start," go to "All programs," select "Accessories," choose "Communication," select "Fax" and then choose "Fax Console." The Fax Console opens.

    • 2). Select "Tools" and then choose "Configure Fax" from the drop-down menu. The Fax Configuration Wizard starts.

    • 3). Click "Next" and then type your name and fax number on the "Sender Information" window. All other fields in this window are optional. Select your modem on the "Select Device for Sending or Receiving Faxes" page.

    • 4). Type your business name and fax number on the "Transmitting Subscriber Identification (TSID)" and "Called Subscriber Identification (CSID)" pages, respectively.

    • 5). Follow the prompts to finalize the configuration process. You have successfully set up Windows XP fax on your PC.
