- 1). Cut the straps on a plastic bag in half and cut it down the sides to make the bag one longer sheet of plastic. Smooth it out in front of you and cut three strips of plastic at about 3 inches wide. They don't need to be a perfect straight line and they don't need to be exactly the same width, as long as they are close. Cut two other bags of different colors to make multicolored bracelets.
- 2). Line up the ends of three plastic strips in the colors you want for your bracelet. Measure about 3 inches from the end and tie an overhand knot to keep them together. Tape the ends to a tabletop with masking tape to keep it still as you work.
- 3). Twist the plastic strips as you braid them in a regular braid. Twisting and braiding makes the plastic stronger and the bracelet will last longer. Keep braiding until you have a braid that is about 7 1/2 inches long. Slip a pony bead onto the strips in various parts on the braid and create a color pattern.
- 4). Tie an overhand knot to complete the braid. Carefully remove the tape holding the ends to the tabletop and tie the two lose ends together. Stretch the bracelet slowly and carefully, just enough to get it over your wrist.
